Mission Statement

Broken But Not Destroyed Corp. is a non-profit organization that strives to provide the highest quality of shelter services to
homeless women, men and children. It was founded in December 2013 by Duane Thompson, who envisioned an environment that brings stability and wholeness to each individual. Kayde Austin, the director of Broken But Not Destroyed, cultivated a program called
“My Life Map” program which is uniquely structured to the individual based on their personal issues. My Life Map is formalized
by identifying each individual needs and pursuing their goals for their lives.
In addition, the program assists with finding low income housing and jobs through Hempstead Works, receiving mental health care at Peninsula Counselor session along with New Horizon and offers credit repair services through creditkarma.com. Each client is met
by a social worker or the director on a bi-weekly basis for a progress report review. My Life Map is coupled with our recreation program that prepares them to return into society by providing trips, activities, and workshops. This program is offered to all three locations in Franklin Square, Hempstead and West Hempstead.
As the name states, these women, men and children have been broken down by certain life circumstances but are not destroyed, but with our help, we are determined to renew their spirits so that they can continue on their life’s journey. Proverbs 19:17 “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord- and He will pay you back.”
